I am a Chinese food snob too... but I have recently fallen in love with a place close by to work...

I have become a Filipino food snob! My MIL handed me a recipe for adobo (considered a national dish) that she had found in a magazine. Adobo is basicaly 4 ingredients - garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, and black pepper (and of course, meat). This one had honey and cumin! Eeeekkk! Before I could stop myself, I recoiled and said, "This is not adobo!" I felt so bad because she was so sweet to think of me but I just couldn't rave over it. Bad daughter-in-law.

Happy to hear that Del Mar isn't trying to be something it's not and instead is focusing on being fusion. Those dishes looks fantastic!
