About Me
Pearl
My childhood home had two kitchens: one where my grandmother would stand over risen dough, folding a spoonful of spiced meats and vegetables into the soft flour to make her savory steamed buns; the other where I would sit on the sunlit ceramic tile countertop, giggling with my mother while using both hands to hold the hand mixer steady. With streaks of flour across my face, I marveled over the rising cake in the oven, anticipating its vanilla taste and fluffy, light layers. I feel safe in the kitchen, for it is my sanctum and oasis.
